Make Mondays better - It’s time for Westin Weekend!

We’re loosening our ties and making a few subtle changes to create a more relaxed atmosphere on the weekends to help you rejuvenate for the week ahead.

The Westin Mumbai Garden City is tackling the Monday blues head-on with the introduction of a new, dedicated weekend program that will give our guests more flexibility and time to make the most out of their weekend getaway. We invite guests to personalize their weekend with a 3pm Sunday check-out, extended breakfast hours all weekend and more. This means more time to enjoy your weekend, whether that includes hitting the beaches, exploring a new city or a day lounging by the poolside. Leave feeling energized so you can have a Better Monday.

To celebrate, we are kicking off a month-long gifting campaign to deserving groups across the country, bringing the new program’s mantra to life by making Monday better for hundreds of deserving individuals. Throughout the month of April, Westin will surprise three organizations on three consecutive Mondays with Westin Weekend getaways, Heavenly Beds and more.

Building on the success of Westin’s 'For a Better You' platform, the whimsical new campaign, combines beautiful images and playful headlines such as 'A Day in the Pool Will Help You Swim with the Sharks' and 'Morning commutes are easier after weekend of long drives', to portray Westin Weekends as an opportunity to recharge for a Better Monday.

The Westin Mumbai Garden City is pleased to announce enhanced and re-designated profiles of our associates that have taken place in the month of April 2013.

Bhagyawati Bisht's profile has been enhanced and re-designated as Guest Service and Reservations Manager at The Westin Mumbai Garden City from 1st April 2013 and would be directly responsible for the Operations of Service Express, Westin Executive Club and Business Center. Bhagyawati has been with The Westin Mumbai Garden City (TWMGC) since pre opening as Reservation Manager. She is very enthusiastic and passionate about her job and always used to seek role enhancement. During her tenure with TWMGC, she has supported the organization in achieving great success. Bhagyawati will be reporting directly to the EAM, Director of Rooms and Director of Revenue.





Pawan Sharma's profile has been enhanced and re-designated as Director of Security and Wellness for The Westin Mumbai Garden City from 1st April 2013 and will be directly responsible for the operations of Westin Workout, Heavenly Spa and The Car Valet Management in addition to Security. Pawan has been with TWMGC since the preopening as Director of Security, he is a fitness freak, has a pleasing personality and is very passionate about his job. During his tenure with TWMGC, he has supported the organization in achieving great success. Pawan in his enhanced role will be reporting directly to the Area General Manager and Director of Rooms.

We also have the pleasure to announce a key appointment for the month of April 2013. Shikha Joshi has been appointed as Account Director – Catering Sales at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Shikha has completed her Bachelors in Business Management from Marathwada University Aurangabad. She has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry.  Shikha's last assignment was Event Manager at J W Marriott, Mumbai. Her previous assignments include Assistant Manager F&B at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi.

Mr.Rajesh Maheshwari, Director of Finance 

We would like to welcome on board, Mr. Rajesh Maheshwari who has joined us as Director of Finance. With over 17 years of experience, Rajesh’s prior assignment was with The Lalit – Mumbai as Financial Controller. His previous work experience includes Regional Financial Accountant – Hyder Consulting Australia, Financial Controller – Stamford Grand North Ryde – Sydney, Sir Stamford at Circular Quay – Sydney, Australia as Hotel Controller. With travelling as a passion, Rajesh has completed his Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has also obtained a Certification in Certified Practicing Accountants from CPA Australia.

Mr.Anurag Mishra, Assistant Financial Controller 

Mr. Anurag Mishra is another addition to the ever growing Westin family and has joined us as Assistant Financial Controller in Finance Department. With over 5 years of experience in the industry Anurag had joined Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels and Resorts as a Management Trainee in Finance Department. He was then heading the finance Department at Le Meridien – Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Anurag has also worked with CA Firms. With acting as a passion, Anurag has completed his Chartered Accountancy and is now pursuing IFRS certification course conducted by ICAI, at New Delhi.

HVS the world's leading hospitality consulting firm is here with the 9th Hotel Investment Conference - South Asia (HICSA) 2013. HICSA has grown over the years to earn the reputation of being the best hospitality conference in the region with over 600 business leaders from across 20 countries participating last year.

HICSA 2013 for the very first time, had the four global CEOs of leading global hospitality brands on a common dais - Arne M Sorenson, President & CEO, Marriott International; Christopher J Nassetta, President & CEO, Hilton Worldwide; Frits van Paasschen, President & CEO, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Mark S Hoplamazian, President & CEO, Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Anuraag Bhatnagar is Area General Manager of Westin Hotels in Mumbai and Pune and has 22 years of experience in the industry. Prior to his 10 year long stint with the Starwood Group that included him serving as a General Manager for The Westin Pune Koregaon Park in Pune and Le Royal Meridien Mumbai, Anuraag was associated with The Oberoi Group for 12 years.

 

Biswajit Chakraborty, General Manager, Mövenpick Hotel and Spa Bangalore
Biswajit Chakraborty took over the reins of Mövenpick Hotel and Spa Bangalore as General Manager in August 2012. He has 25 years of experience in the industry, which includes working in leadership positions with The Leela in Kovalam and Mumbai, The Yak and Yeti in Nepal (General Manager), The Oberoi Group (Sales and Marketing Head) and the Taj Group, where he started his hospitality career as an F & B Controller.

Maverik Mukerji, GM Ibis Navi Mumbai, AGM Ibis Hotels – Maharashtra
Maverik Mukerji is the Area General Manager of Ibis Hotels in Maharashtra and the General Manager of Ibis Navi Mumbai. He has been associated with Accor since 2002. Maverik started his career with Accor in New Zealand as an Assistant Manager, Mercure Hotel, Wellington and in 10 years has excelled to be a performance driven leader with experience in world class hospitality and property management. In a career spanning over 16 years, he has played a key role in handling important hotel management operations in the Novotel Tainui Hamilton and the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside in New Zealand. Prior to Accor, Maverik was associated with the Taj Group.

Taljinder Singh, General Manager, Taj Palace New Delhi
Taljinder Singh is the General Manager of Taj Palace New Delhi since 2009. Prior to this, he was the General Manager of Taj Bengal, Kolkata and the Resident Manager of the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. He has completed varied assignments with the Group at Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Mumbai, Vivanta by Taj – President, Mumbai; and at Taj Palace New Delhi. He started his career with the Company as a Management Trainee in 1990.

Yann Gillet, General Manager, Park Hyatt Chennai
Yann Gillet is the General Manager of Park Hyatt Chennai. Recruited by Hyatt as a Corporate Trainee in 1994, he subsequently joined Hyatt Paris Charles-de-Gaulle. This was followed by a range of opportunities with Radisson Group for opening their properties in Cannes as well as Beijing. Yann’s journey with Hyatt was renewed as an Executive Assistant Manager – Finance in Casblanca, Morocco, followed by various other interesting assignments within the Company.
