City Glitterati wine and dine in style at The Westin Mumbai Garden City!

17th September saw city’s renowned wine appreciators make head-way to The Westin Mumbai Garden City, as the occasion served a stylish and refined Ruffino Degustation Dinner by Sula
Vineyards.

The evening started with Jake Jacob Vice President Asia of Constellation Brands introducing the delectable Ruffino Wines from the first finest wineries in Tuscany. The beverage for elite was carefully paired with Modern Indian Progressive menu designed by Executive Chef Ajay Chopra. Whilst Area General Manager, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Mr Anuraag Bhatnagar played perfect host as he welcomed Cecilia Oldne, Global Brand Ambassador and Deepak Bhatnagar, President – Sales and Marketing from Sula. In attendance at this social-do were successful wine educator and consultant -Sonal Holland and celebrated bartender -Shatbi Basu enjoying the exceptional pairing of Indian cuisine with the delicate and expressive wines of Ruffino, Chianti, Italy.

On an engaging tête-à-tête with Jake Jacob some interesting facts on Ruffino brand were divulged such as – the wine is a true expression of the land and people immersed in Tuscan tradition. Today the House of Ruffino is a world-renowned ambassador of Chianti Classico as well as other wines of extraordinary class and personality. Walk down the historical facts highlights Ruffino for its long association with prominent people like composer Giuseppe Verdi and the Duke of Aosta, a member of Italy’s royal family and dating the royal alliance back as far as 1890 when Ruffino was appointed official wine to the royal Italian court!


Speaking on the occasion Area General Manager Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar a leading industry stalwart said “There are two major ways to pair food and wine.  You can either match the pair by similar tastes, as we like to say or compare the flavors. As menu for today’s wine dinner was crafted by our expert Chefs; special care has been taken in pairing food with uncomplicated and progressive flavors of Ruffino. This program gives us the edge of understanding the ever versatile customer palate for beverage and caters to good food complementing the wines.”

Take an European culinary voyage with Prego with the European Restaurant Week



The exciting ‘European Restaurant Week’ scheduled from 6th to 12th September in Mumbai, Italian signature restaurant Prego at The Westin Mumbai Garden City  is set to take its guests on an European gastronomic trip with a special menu inspired from ‘Tastes of Europe’.

The gastronomic variety on Vegetarian Kebab options are curated by Chef Chopra through ingredient sciences and complimenting taste analysis; thus breaking away from the regular Hyderabadi and Lucknowi grill varieties. Cook Off with Eat Drink & More Members!

Chefs at The Westin Mumbai Garden City truly believe that the art of cooking should reach out to people who relish it. In a special culinary session organized by Executive Chef Ajay Chopra and Executive Sous Chef Rahul Dhavle, the EDM patrons engaged in a cook off with some hot favorite Italian delicacies from Prego on Sunday, 29th of June 2014.




Ever vibrant team of Chefs and service staff at Prego; ensured that the guests have an exceptional experience, as the members rolled-up their sleeves behind the counter.  After a brief ‘Welcome’ and general networking session at the Westin Lounge, the members in supervision of Chef Rahul headed to the grand kitchen stepping into the domain of gourmand creators.



While the expert Chefs from Prego took the centre-stage with exciting demonstration on home-made pasta and sauces, members were enthralled to try their hands on preparation of delectable Penne Alfredo and Spaghetti Pomodoro Convendur.




The fine replaced by fun dining was a great treat for our guest giving them an opportunity to enjoy their weekend differently. To further make their weekends special, we made a promise of teaching different cuisines and speciality dishes inviting them to keep coming back for more every Sunday.

Fine Scottish Whisky meets Rustic Indian Flavours at Kangan!

Kangan the specialty Indian venue at The Westin Mumbai Garden City played host to a curated evening providing its Starwood Preferred Guest® (SPG®) members with an unforgettable whisky appreciation session by none other than Sandeep Arora, India’s only certified Whisky Ambassador. Sandeep along with Executive Chef Ajay Chopra crafted a special menu paired with the finest Glenlivet single malts that complemented the robust flavors of Indian food.




The Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program is an innovative, award-winning frequent traveler program uniting each of Starwood’s 9 distinctive hotel brands across the world. SPG is creating a series of Whisky appreciation sessions across Starwood Hotels in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai offering its valued members an opportunity to interact with Sandeep Arora and  enjoy the coming together of the finest Glenlivet with robust flavors, in a way that connoisseurs do.

Connoisseurs of Whisky and gourmet lovers braced themselves as the evening commenced with appetizers like Sigdi waali boti served with pineapple chutney and bharwan bhavnagri mirch, Crisp amristsari red mullet served with raw mango and onion puree kedgree. This was followed by Five spice duckonfit for the main course among other dishes, concluding the revelry with Cardamom and orange chocolate molleux as dessert. Each of these courses was paired with the perfectly aged Glenlivet whisky ranging between 12, 15 and 21 years to further enrich the flavors and tantalize the taste buds. 


A perfect culmination to an eventful week was this perfectly curated soiree at Kangan on 26th April 2014 at The Westin Mumbai Garden City which was indeed a delight.

The 2nd Mumbai Farmers’ Market is back with a bang at the Westin Mumbai Garden City this Sunday!

After ten successful Farmers’ Market in Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon that saw a variety of restaurants, world-class natural products and dozens of avid home bakers and amateur chefs, wineries and 30,000+ visitors to date, Karen Anand and her team will bring once again the unique experience to Mumbai on Sunday, February 9th in the stunning 'Woods' of The Westin Mumbai Garden City.

The Mumbai Farmers’ Market (MFM) will bring together exhibitors selling an array of products such as organic fresh produce, cheese, meats, sauce, preserves along with wineries, bars, bakers and restaurants.

Watch chefs, Nikhil Chib of Busaba, Ajay Chopra ex Masterchef India judge & our very own Executive Chef, and Mayank Tiwari of Olive Bistro, India cook with a "mystery box" and market produce. Let your kids be looked after in our kid's cookery workshop area. In addition you can also try food by Between Breads, Busaba, Asia 7 and others. Aoi will be conducting a special sushi workshop. After six successful Farmers’ Market in Pune that saw more than 15 topnotch restaurants, world-class chefs, dozens of avid home bakers and amateur chefs, wineries and 25,000+ visitors, Karen Anand and her team brings the unique experience to Mumbai for the first time on December 1 exclusively at The Westin Mumbai Garden City.

The Mumbai Farmers’ Market (MFM) expects to see the city’s food & drink enthusiasts congregate at this innovative platform to explore curated culinary experiences and demonstrations, meet a fresh and novel array of exhibitors who will showcase their artisanal produce and grab the opportunity to enjoy the city’s favourite restaurants in an ‘out-of-restaurant’ experience. The Westin Mumbai Garden City ushers the Christmas cheer with a joyful Cake Mixing Ceremony!

On 10th November, The Westin Mumbai Garden City spread the warmth of the festive season with the harbinger of good tidings and happiness. The traditional cake mixing ceremony herald a truly indulgent Christmas.

Our EAM Mr. Nishant Agarwal welcomed all the guests to an afternoon filled with loads of fun amidst great cheer and fervor. Executive Chef Ajay Chopra began the ceremony by unveiling the cake mixing tray filled with dry fruits, raisins, black currants, candied peel, candied cherries, tutti frutti etc and of course the all important spirits wine, rum, beer and whiskey etc to soak the fruits with. This will be soaked in the spirits until Christmas, which will be then later made into traditional Christmas cakes and will be ready for sale. Model and Actress Sandhya Shetty joined the chefs and guests in mixing the fruits with the various liqueurs.


All the guests enjoyed this traditional Christmas ceremony and it is one of the most novel way to bring in the festive season. The Westin Mumbai Garden City has set the stage for everyone to celebrate a blissful Merry Christmas.

August 13 2013 saw a pride of fiery flavors from the North West Frontier come together. It was the beginning to the Kitchens of Kangan which is all set to take over taste buds across the nation. The Westin Mumbai Garden City’s genesis of elevated dining by the ‘Kitchens of Kangan’ power up's for feasts much sought after.

The launch event at our venue began with Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor delivering an honorary speech to our guests, accompanied by our Executive Chef Ajay Chopra. Area General Manager of The Westin Mumbai Garden City Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar addressed the guests with absolute panache. This was followed by a short audiovisual bearing a glimpse of Chef Ajay’s show Hi Tea on Food Food. Media representatives later were seen engaging in a round of Question & Answers and one on one interview sessions with our guest chefs; Style Chef’s Chef Shailendra Kekade, Health Mange More’s Chef Shantanu Gupte and Mummy Ka Magic’s Amrita Raichand.

With an entourage of highly skilled chefs visiting Kangan across cities showcasing the best of its offerings. Prego brings you Grano Armando!

A divine confluence of Italian flavors came together at the launch of Grano Armando hosted at Prego, the Italian specialty dinner at The Westin Mumbai Garden City on 12 July 2013. Our guests savored in an ambience, specially infused with Italian notes for an elevated dining experience while they feasted on special preparations of fresh pastas, homemade bread paired with uplifting red and white wines and other blends.

The evening commenced with an informative audio visual of Grano Armando’s origin at Prego’s Al Fresco dining area, mood-lit and set in cheerful yellows and mustards with rustic hues and natural wood. Prego is a diner’s delight with pulsating Italian and Mediterranean pop music, a feature bar and a wine display wall, a Molteni kitchen and a contemporary yet authentic Italian spread to die for. The restaurant has an extensive wine list of Italian and New World wines, international boutique beers and specialty cocktails.

The event was attended by Karen Anand and Giselle Thakral who assisted Executive Chef Ajay Chopra, Chef Federico Volpi from The Westin Pune Koregaon Park and Maria Vople from the Grano Armando team at the live station. The guests indulged in delicious canapés keeping in mind their ‘health-o-meter’.

Day two of the event brought together celebrity chefs from Mumbai City such as Vicky Ratnani and many more under one roof at the Chef’s Table at Prego to experience a lavish menu of Grano Armano delights hosted by Executive Chef, Ajay Chopra. While our guest chefs tucked in to tantalizing preparations and Italian reds and whites, our very own Prego chefs were found adding the final finishing touches to the dessert which could have easily led even the most discerning gourmets to believe it were a piece of art. The end of this affair saw our guest chefs leave soulfully satiated and eager to return for yet another remarkable Westin experience.
